While using helium-based breathing gases, the TDI Trimix Instructor Course delivers the training required to teach trimix diving that requires staged decompression. Utilizing gases containing no less than 18% oxygen, candidates will complete the four required dives up to 60 metres

Topics that candidates may be asked to present include

  • Setting up a kit for an trimix dive
  • Techniques and methods of decompression, decompression tables, decompression gases, decompression dives, hypoxia, nitrogen narcosis, helium absorption and elimination, counter diffusion, dive planning
  • Lifting bag / DSMB deployment, stages manipulation, standard technical procedures in a complete ER diver's equipment, gas switching procedures, dives up to 60 meters
  • Simulating a stressful situation

Trimix Instructor Course Prerequisites:

  • Minimum age 2l
  • Minimum certification as a TDI Trimix Diver and a TDI Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures Instructor, or equivalent
  • Proof of 15 certified advanced nitrox or decompression procedures divers; minimum of 10 must be decompression procedures divers
  • Provide proof of 250 logged dives with a minimum of 20 logged Trimix dives outside of training, 10 of these dives must be in the last 12 months

Qualification of graduates

Upon successful completion of this course, the graduate can teach technical diving on nomoxic trimix to depths of up to 60 meters using any nitrox decompression mixtures. Upon successful completion of this course, graduates can enroll in courses: TDI Advanced Trimix Instructor
